Rules:

  1. A judge will select the overall best place setting based upon the criteria list below. The decision of the judges is final. In the event of a tie the final winner will be selected by a vote of the Pottery Festival Committee.
    •   Aesthetic Value
    •   Functionality
    •   Creativity
  2. There will be only 1 overall winner in the competition. The judges reserve the right to award honorable mention to any place setting they feel worthy of note.
  3. The place setting must include American made ceramic dinnerware.
  4. Only 1 basic place setting per entry is to be displayed for this competition. A place setting should consist of at least: china, silverware, napkin, and a drinking vessel. Other accessories such as a table covering of your choice, a centerpiece, or candles, etc., are encouraged and will be taken into consideration during judging.
  5. There is no entry fee, but each entrant must fill out an entry form by 11:00 am on the day of judging. Although individuals need not be present to win, it is the responsibility of the entrant to arrange for set-up of their place setting during the hours noted above, and removal of their display by 2:00 pm on the day of the competition.
  6. This is to be a blind judging. The winner is to be determined on the merits of the place setting itself, not any special credentials or qualifications they may possess (i.e., caterer, professional chef, or restauranteer). Therefore; place settings as displayed for judging must not include any element that would allow the judges conclusively to know the identity of the entrant.
